summary:
I used to think my sister and I were just two nice southern girls who'd get married in a few years and settle down to a quiet life. Then I discovered that Alina and I descend, not from good wholesome southern stock, but from an ancient Celtic bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, people who can see the Fae. Not only can I see the terrifying otherworldly race, but I can sense the sacred Fae relics that hold the deadliest of their magic.
When my sister was found dead in a trash-filled alley in Dublin, I came over to get answers. Now all I want is revenge. And after everything I've learned about myself, I know I have the power to get it....
MacKayla Lane's ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland's shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.
In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh-a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V'lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.
For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them....
WHAT I THINK:
BLOODY HELL.
this book is one hellish of a bloody book! haha. Mac grew up to be such an independent bloody badass girl! slowly but surely! ha! omg! I can't begin to describe the feelingS I got reading the pages of her and Barrons fighting and kissing. it was so darn funny! it was like this: PUNCH! RETORT! PUNCH! INSULT! PUNCH! RETALIATE! PUNCH! PUNCH! CHALLENGE! THEN BAM! THEY CRUSH into each other. I was like, "what just happened?". it. was. so. intense!
As for the story: okay, Mac got herself in the brink of death again! even after finding her "true calling"(that was really funny), and after tricked into spending more than an hour in the Fae world, thereby losing a month in the real world (I got a feeling that Barrons may have something for her when he trashed her room) haha.-(also when he kept on glancing on her ____ many times! talk about men! ha!), (did I mention I got "kilig" when Barrons carried her upside down when they were in that palace and she was wearing a catsuit? anyway. heehee). Barrons saved her again! He got kinda softie though again when there was no more hope for her (until she managed to find a temporary solution). haha. Creepy Malluce was the grim reaper! anyway, their fight was bloody kickass! Until Barrons finished him off. that's when things kinda got steamy...haha. the one sweet moment in the car on the way home was cute too! oh gosh! I can make a list of many bone-wrenching heart-whelming scenes between Mac and Barrons.
Karen Marie Moning is a genius when it comes to writing! I salute her because she gives lots of illustrations. What I mean is whenever she describes a current situation of Mac, she compares it to a past experience or a saying her mom/dad made. pure genius! Also, I like how there's always a scene in every book wherein Mac gathers all that she has learned(writes it in her journal) and ALL THE QUESTIONS she has. and these questions also help me have something in my mind to anticipate. I like how Moning lay it all. and the answers are being answered ONE by One by one. :)
Meanwhile, I can't wait to finish this series and really find out who and what Barrons is. Jericho Barrons, who are you really? haha.
