NIGHTSHADE. ANDREA CREMER.

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she’ll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters’ laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything - including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?

WHAT I THINK:
THAT WAS ONE HELL OF AN ENDING. grabeeeehh!!!! The ACTION, my gosh, I can’t even begin to describe it. It was so UNEXPECTED, FULL OF ADRENALINE (I was literally pacing back and forth, writhing my own pain and agony, biting my fingers until they turned red, moaned, whatever, EVERYTHING! while I was reading. YES! that was how INTENSE the scenes were!). I was in between irritated and wanting to cry, and AAAARRRGGGGHHHH. WHY? YOU MAY ASK.
1. I don’t want Shay to end up with Cal ( I don’t know what’s up with me always wanting the other guy to end up with the girl! BUT we can’t know YET, I’m still TEAM REN! hahaha,no matter!)--gosh just reminds me of Jacob (twilight), Adrian (vampire academy)...sigh
2. I’m so pissed with Shay (why did he have to appear in their life. I mean, why couldn’t the story just involve Cal and Ren, and them hating each other at first, and just develop that???-okay, so that would probably be creating another story, STILL, I can’t help having these WISHFUL THINKING. EVERY TIME there’s a scene bet Cal and REn)
3. I’m so angry why Shay had to turn into a wolf too! (honestly, I wished that since he’s SPECIAL, the “wolf” effect would last only for about 24 or so hours with him...haha, OKAY, I KNOW, another WISHFUL THINKING RIGHT there)]
4. not about shay anymore, it’s Cal. why can’t she just have more SELF-CONTROL? GGGGRRRR. she was able to endure it for 17 yrs of her life, and just another MONTH,!!!! aaaaaggggghhhh.. I hated it when she said the magic 3 words to Shay.. couldn’t just leave the readers hanging? so that our bets can still pay off???

Golly, gosh, the ending really SURPRISED the wit out of me! I really wasn’t expecting A LOT to happen. More SECRETs revealed, the TWISTS! who knew the one you’ve always believed and trusted could be the real enemy?, (I thought they discovered everything already, but there was still more!), the running (so okay I really pitied Shay even if I don’t like him for Cal, but my empathetic self just reveals itself, I wanna cry for him too, because I ADMIT, he’s a real VICTIM in the story, and I hate it.(for many reasons)), still more running, his uncle being uncovered, there were just lots!

Now, my only QUESTION IS, WOLFSBANE’S out already right?
this book definitely HOOKED ME(even if I was really irritATED most of the time), I DIDN’T SLEEP! FOR MY SAKE! HAHA. REALLY, IT’S 7 AM AND CAN’T GET OVER!!!!

FIRELIGHT. SOPHIE JORDAN.

Firelight (Firelight, #1)Firelight by Sophie Jordan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.

Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.

Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.

Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.

WHAT I THINK:
I was really surprised at myself that I LOVE this book. After finishing the 1st book of the series, my line was “well, that was something. I need the next one.!” haha.

Firelight brought a different LIGHT to my reading genre. I mean, seriously. This book was definitely SOMETHING. The flow of the story: unique girl meets guy, prey & predator, realization they love each other, rivalries, complications, problem, decisions,END. This book basically was that, however the “Draki” (dragon) side made it unique. A new history of species created. What amuses me with these kinds of novels is when I learn a lot about world geography and history because authors base their stories with real facts too. They create something new and creative from historical facts (most of which are unknown really, UNTIL made significant in the story, so we now know them, hehe).

I love the characters, because Sophie Jordan (the author) didn’t make impossible ‘perfect’ characters, and the flaws of each of the characters are evident in the story. How each of them contributes to the problem that leads to the complication in the end (you’ll know when you read the book). It was interesting to know Will (the guy) liked Jacinda from the start and felt a connection (don’t they all? hha) with Jacinda however after his first and second rejection and being ignored, he didn’t pursue her everyday, I was shocked that he waited a lot of days before bravely making the decision to REALLY and seriously pursuing her. My point: If he really liked her (and can’t seem to stop thinking about her, bec she’s really different), he should have proved his whatever incessantly! Well, that’s just me though. haha.

I really really liked the story though. Challenged my imagination to think how the draki looks like. LOTS of SECRETS. Lots of intrigues and mysteries. Jealousy. sister issues. mother issues. really cute at the same time serious love story with an unexpected ending. Two thumbs up!

DIVERGENT. VERONICA ROTH.

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Divergent by Veronica Roth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

WHAT I THINK:
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
lots of love for DIVERGENT.

YET AGAIN,ANOTHER BOOK I’M PROUD TO HAVE READ. There are usually good books, badly written books, uninteresting books, o-kay books, unique books and there are the EPIC ones. DIVERGENT belongs to the latter. It belongs to the category I have for Hunger games, TMI, VA, Fever series, Unwind, twilight-among my favorites in short, the ones I would happily read again.
At first, I was hesitant in believing this book was worth reading as many reviewers said, but still I gave it a try, and let me just say, I DID NOT REGRET SPENDING FOR THIS HARD-BOUND copy I bought.
The story in itself is unique. 5 factions. Dauntless, Abnegation, Candor, Amity and Erudite.(reading the summary made me scratch my head and ask ‘how the hell could i memorize this?’but after a few chapters, i have them embedded in my brain, lol). I’ve learned how to love Dystopian novels. What they all seem to have in common is CRUELTY. Cruelty of the main story. Not that I’m sadistic, but I just find them interesting and it keeps my brain working. It’s not just any other “pass time novels” but it actually makes my mind think of the possibilities that human intelligence can lead to our destruction (I know, deep right? haha). But, God, I felt FEARS I’ve never thought existed and gosh the TORTURES made me feel alive. I also learned that being different (in Tris’case-Divergent) is not at all negative, by pure choice we can make it into a positive one, and in the story’s case, her being what she is saved them all. In my case, I realize that I’m selfish, but I also know that when being selfless is to be applied. therefore, I am both selfish and selfless. haha. (probably I will choose to be in Amity faction to lose the risk of losing myself☺)
The book is about discovering who you are, and whether we like it or not, it is a PROCESS. We undergo grief and all those emotions, after being thrown into the fire, we come out shining and real. IN the midst of trials and difficulties, we know what and who we really are, and who are true to us.
Divergent made me think, made me cry, gave me that adrenaline rush (again. I LOVE), my heart went ‘pump pump pump to the nth level’, made me laugh, made me shout with irritation, made me feel, made me realize, MADE ME ENJOY ANOTHER EXEMPLARY WORK OF ART!

***Veronica Roth is a Christian? just got me thinking because of her acknowledgement. YES, I read the first parts of her acknowledgement in hoping additional paragraphs, haha.

And Seth, sworn brother of the Dark King and heir to the High Queen, is about to make a mistake that could cost his life.

The thrilling conclusion to Melissa Marr's New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely series will leave readers breathless.

WHAT I THINK:
FINALLY I’M DONE WITH THIS SERIES! I forced myself to finish this book despite my not liking of the pairing. It was a good book though, can’t say that it’s bad because it was also good. just an OKAY for me though. BUT i’m so happy I’m done! it’s like one obligation crashed out from my list! haha.

What can I say about the book? Well, it sure was full of MERCY. There was the usual conflicts and resolved. Bananach finally destroyed, and all the fae courts are in unity. With happy ending for both Aislinn&Seth, Donia&Keenan (i’m not happy.) oh well! haha.

DIE FOR ME. AMY PLUM.

Die for Me (Revenants, #1)Die for Me by Amy Plum

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
DIE FOR ME is the first of three books about Kate, a sixteen-year-old American who moves to Paris after the death of her parents. It introduces a new version of the undead with revenants, beings who are fated to sacrifice themselves over and over again to save others’ lives. Kate finds herself falling for Vincent, who she discovers is not the typical French teenager he appears: he is something else entirely.

DIE FOR ME presents a new supernatural mythology presented in a city where dreams are sometimes the same as reality.

WHAT I THINK:
Paris. falling in love. Seine River. Eiffel tower. ahhh. couldn't anything be more perfect?

"Die For Me" is an upbeat, optimistic, special, unique and cute love story. A mix of modern love story mashed with unexplained abnormal existence and phenomenon in this world. I thought this book was deep and serious with momentous issues. Well, it does, but not with the heaviness I was expecting. I don't know really but despite the life-and-death situations the Revenants (group of undead people who save lives) go through, and the impossibility and challenging position Vincent and Kate are faced off, there's a simpleness and uncomplicated light ambience in the story. Maybe because they're in Paris and the love-feel of the environment, or just maybe the lack thereof of mystery in the story.

The descriptions of Paris made me step into Paris-feeling the city, within reach. While Kate walked the streets of Paris, I felt myself move with her. Cafe's. Reading all day. With sights of small cobbled streets. lots of majestic views. Ahhhh. + coffee!!! it's just too purrrfect for me!

The love story of Kate and Vincent. Well, let me just say that it's the SAPPIEST, SYRUPY, most CLICHED story I've ever read! Sometimes it gags me and makes me feel nauseatic. MOST of the time it leaves me HOPING I'm in Kate's situation. It's just TOO good to be true (well, of course it is, that's why it's FICTION! DUH! haha). But you know, it could happen in real life.

The book just had ample amount of action to it, not too much stupid characters (a RELIEF) , lots of cool individuals, cozy feel of the ambience, no overrated villains (finally! i just had too much villains to read from Vamp Acad & Fever series, haha), can make you ASK a lot of questions (since, this has a UNIQUE plot= "Revenants" die but will live again, and must save people in order to be able to live again. who knew?). I can say the story was a breath of fresh air in the genre I read. It's definitely different. I'm a little bit disappointed with the lack of mysteriousness in it and the fact that it has a "Twilight" feel in it. BUT nevertheless, this was a GOOD read. I will follow the series, but I don't think I will reread this again. :)

the EFFECT of the book on me: I WANNA LIVE in PARIS! if ONLY for a month or a summer.

SHADOWFEVER. KAREN MARIE MONING.

Shadowfever (Fever, #5)Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
“Evil is a completely different creature, Mac. Evil is bad that believes it’s good.”

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.
Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh—a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds.

In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.
Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac herself and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world . . . or destroy it.

WHAT I THOUGHT:
This book is EPIC. TOO MUCH GOING ON. SO MANY TWISTS and TURNS. COMPLICATED. Just when you thought things will end already, well they didn't, and it keeps on BRANCHING and SPREADING, REVEALING and UNVEILING SECRETS long been hidden. Gosh, I love every little REVELATION. In fact, this book could have been named "Revelation" too.

Shadowfever was called Shadowfever because everyone's lurking in their own SHADOW. Everyone has SECRETS, and these secrets end up with lots of TRUST issues.

The book began where Dreamfever ended. I couldn't breathe properly with the idea that Jericho Barrons is DEAD. To put it simply-I mourned with Mac. However, the situation made Mac be aware of her TRUE FEELINGS. Mac admitting that she can't live a world without Barrons drove me nuts! I admire her for getting her courage to stand up and find justice and revenge. Mac 5.0 really rose above every situation thrown at her. so proud of her! :) Reading on, I was suddenly lost and confused when I realized it was no longer Mac narrating but BARRONS! HA! I always knew he was going to live again, but I sure didn't expect that SOON.
I really was SURPRISED and STUNNED with the revelations. All my suspicions and guesses seem FUTILE. SERIOUSLY. First, I thought the only villain here was Darroc-from beginning to end. ENG! WRONG! That was a major whiplash for me. Darroc dying early in the story confounded me! I was hit with questions like "so, what now? how will the story continue??". I must applaud KAREN MARIE MONING for having so many INGENIOUS ideas. The story continues with their main problem-the Sinsar Dubh and many others ( YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT)
Again, Barrons saved Mac. I WAS SUPER HAPPY when FINALLY! Barrons' identity was SLOWLY disclosing! I didn't expect the "monster" inside him (as he was always described) was LITERAL. Anyway, the TENSION between Barrons and Mac was really INTENSE. I laughed out loud and there were lots of hilarious moments when Barrons got jealous it was very obvious but he was still sooo denying it! The way his throat rumbles or something, haha. Their silent CONVERSATIONS still appalls me! Imagine not being able to read minds, but BOTH of them sure read a lot between their conversations. Soon enough, they fall into their usual routine. BB&B's. CHESTER's. The Abbey. WHITE MANSION. For me, this is the BOOK where Mac and Barrons start to swallow their prides and they took a leap of faith of showing their true feelings. IT took a lot from BOTH of them. The circumstances and settings just aided, but pretty much they handled it well. I LOVE EVERY SCENE WHERE they argued and ending up revealing one or two things (feelings). MAC questioning her real Identity- seeking it, learning and testing and accepting her limits and amazingness. Mac learning the REAL BARRON. which led one thing to another, and next thing you know they were having endless sex again. gosh, those two just can't get enough of each other. made me CRAZY! (skipped other parts, haha). What made me happier was EVEN before their "honeymoon phase all over again", PEOPLE around them NOTICEd that they WANT each other. Barron's men do (there's a MAJOR ISSUE here), Mac's parents (jace and Rainey Lane are both amazing btw), the Abbey girls, the Scots , etc. I SOOO LOVE MAC AND BARRONS....
The last 150 pages of the book contained the important events. Turned out there were MORE villains. I always thought the highest climax can only be achieved with lots of actions. I was wrong because in this book, the ENDING was so STRETCHED and NOT IN A BAD WAY- the longest ENDING i've ever read in fact...So many ILLUSIONS and LIES uncovered. Just when you thought the problem's been resolved, another speaks, another situation. it OVERWHELMED ME. made me GAGA. the COMPLICATIONS NEVER ENDED. Until I thought there are 10 more pages left, SERIOUSLY, THIS SHOULD BE THE END ALREADY. HAHA. the ENDING SENT ME TUMBLING DOWN THE ROAD, SKIP PAST, JUGGLE WITH FIRE, FLY HIGH IN THE SKY, THROWING MYSELF IN THE AIR LIKE A GYMNAST! I was so HIGH and ELATEd! All problems solved. CASE closed.

P.S. > I appreciate Moning's acknowledging "reality" effect in the story. All things can't just return to the way it was. it was a PERFECTLY FLAWED ending!

"Or NOT"(the ending, I mean) :)

DREAMFEVER. KAREN MARIE MONING.

Dreamfever (Fever, #4)Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
They may have stolen my past, but I’ll never let them take my future.

When the walls between Man and Fae come crashing down, freeing the insatiable, immortal Unseelie from their icy prison, MacKayla Lane is caught in a deadly trap. Captured by the Fae Lord Master, she is left with no memory of who or what she is: the only sidhe-seer alive who can track the Sinsar Dubh, a book of arcane black magic that holds the key to controlling both worlds.

Clawing her way back from oblivion is only the first step Mac must take down a perilous path, from the battle-filled streets of Dublin to the treacherous politics of an ancient, secret sect, through the tangled lies of men who claim to be her allies into the illusory world of the Fae themselves, where nothing is as it seems—and Mac is forced to face a soul-shattering truth.

Who do you trust when you can’t even trust yourself?

WHAT I THINK:
the ending left me in TANTRUMS. I seriously trashed, kicked, laughed, cried, in FRUSTRATION.

ANYWAY, in general, the book is great! Great GRIEF it brought me in the beginning! I mourned and was left in remorse with the last book's ending. I cannot accept what happened to Mac. Reading the first few pages of Dreamfever was agony! I read through it fast because I knew deep in my heart she was going to be saved. I wanted it ALL to be in Mac's perspective that's why I was frustrated when Dani took over. I thought she was going to take over all the way! GOOD thing it's a NO. LOTS of FRUSTRATIONS in the first part. HOWEVER, I was like "WHOA! HOLD ON!" when part II came. Barrons to the rescue! When he arrived in the Abbey, I knew it was more than his goal to be achieved, and Mac was more than an OOP to him. Heck! his actions and reactions spoke it all! The BASEMENT. oh God. I can't believe 2 MONTHS of everyday making love (for the benefit of just making it sound softer, lol). it's even more than having your honeymoon! gosh! I can't believe Barrons was doing it! lol. the dancing naked! i can't imagine it, so sorry! haha. HIS efforts of bringing her back, helping her was really touching! I refuse to believe that it's because he still needs her. it's really more than it. I LOVE how he calls her "Mac" every time they're in vulnerable situations. He's so sweet really! I like it when he gets jealous. haha. well OBVIOUSLY, their feelings for each other starts to surface here.

The MAC 4.0 is cool. super cool! the actions and events that followed had great scheme and plot! intricately planned and well sorted. Karen Moning's descriptions are well thought off and her illustrations and background stories for each scene is once again, PERFECT!

BRAVO! (clap clap clap).

the cliffhanger? let's just say it was my first time to really REALLY BRAWL, have an OUTBURST of mixed feelings. felt like I was having a BIPOLAR attack. ha! My mom looked at me weirdly and my sister laughed her ass off. that's how it was for me. let's leave it at that. haha.

FAEFEVER. KAREN MARIE MONING.

Faefever (Fever, #3)Faefever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin's Fae-infested streets in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery - and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I'd die for him. I'd kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister's journal, she is stunned by Alina's desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister's killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt... For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac's quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V'lane - an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes; and Jericho Barrons - a man of primal desires and untold secrets - Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows' Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds - with devastating consequences.

WHAT I THINK:
THE ENDING RUINED EVERYTHING GOOD IN THIS BOOK. I'M SPEECHLESS. NO. SCRATCH THAT. I'M BEYOND SPEECHLESS.

However, I still cling to the goodness of the book before it's end. I wanna remember them. I wanna relive the paragraphs I read and reread. (I need a few moments of silence for everything to absorb....)

I'd die for him. that statement is the beginning and the end of the book. It was a good one.

I just wanna say that this book was well crafted. I love all the dichotomies, analogies, illustrations, made-up stories, the cake scene, the awful discoveries, the true witnessing, the lies, the truth, the deceiving, slanders, denial, reminiscing, frustration, hope, losing hope, confusion, and most of all: the CHOICE. It's all about those things.

NOW, I will continue reading because I won't be able to sleep tonight knowing what happened to MAC at the end of Faefever. WITH NO ONE TO SAVE HER, for the 1st time. it was an AWFUL hope-forsaken ending. gosh! what a cliffhanger!

BLOODFEVER. KAREN MARIE MONING.

Bloodfever (Fever, #2)Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

summary:
I used to think my sister and I were just two nice southern girls who'd get married in a few years and settle down to a quiet life. Then I discovered that Alina and I descend, not from good wholesome southern stock, but from an ancient Celtic bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, people who can see the Fae. Not only can I see the terrifying otherworldly race, but I can sense the sacred Fae relics that hold the deadliest of their magic.
When my sister was found dead in a trash-filled alley in Dublin, I came over to get answers. Now all I want is revenge. And after everything I've learned about myself, I know I have the power to get it....

MacKayla Lane's ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland's shores and was plunged into a world of deadly sorcery and ancient secrets.

In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh-a million-year-old book of the blackest magic imaginable, which holds the key to power over both the worlds of the Fae and of Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V'lane, the insatiable Fae who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman, and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.

For centuries the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them....

WHAT I THINK:
BLOODY HELL.
this book is one hellish of a bloody book! haha. Mac grew up to be such an independent bloody badass girl! slowly but surely! ha! omg! I can't begin to describe the feelingS I got reading the pages of her and Barrons fighting and kissing. it was so darn funny! it was like this: PUNCH! RETORT! PUNCH! INSULT! PUNCH! RETALIATE! PUNCH! PUNCH! CHALLENGE! THEN BAM! THEY CRUSH into each other. I was like, "what just happened?". it. was. so. intense!
As for the story: okay, Mac got herself in the brink of death again! even after finding her "true calling"(that was really funny), and after tricked into spending more than an hour in the Fae world, thereby losing a month in the real world (I got a feeling that Barrons may have something for her when he trashed her room) haha.-(also when he kept on glancing on her ____ many times! talk about men! ha!), (did I mention I got "kilig" when Barrons carried her upside down when they were in that palace and she was wearing a catsuit? anyway. heehee). Barrons saved her again! He got kinda softie though again when there was no more hope for her (until she managed to find a temporary solution). haha. Creepy Malluce was the grim reaper! anyway, their fight was bloody kickass! Until Barrons finished him off. that's when things kinda got steamy...haha. the one sweet moment in the car on the way home was cute too! oh gosh! I can make a list of many bone-wrenching heart-whelming scenes between Mac and Barrons.

Karen Marie Moning is a genius when it comes to writing! I salute her because she gives lots of illustrations. What I mean is whenever she describes a current situation of Mac, she compares it to a past experience or a saying her mom/dad made. pure genius! Also, I like how there's always a scene in every book wherein Mac gathers all that she has learned(writes it in her journal) and ALL THE QUESTIONS she has. and these questions also help me have something in my mind to anticipate. I like how Moning lay it all. and the answers are being answered ONE by One by one. :)

Meanwhile, I can't wait to finish this series and really find out who and what Barrons is. Jericho Barrons, who are you really? haha.

DARK FEVER. KAREN MARIE MONING.

Darkfever (Fever, #1)Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman.

Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….

As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….

WHAT I THINK:
this book deserves a perfect rating! haha.

It all started with my curiosity because everyone seems to be talking about "Jericho Barrons" and I just had to know him. Hence, I read this book.

The first installment was a good one. Just like any good first books, it introduced the life of Mac (main character), from her own perspective. Though it was my first time to read a "first hand account" story from Mac, what I'm trying to say is she narrated it from a point of view of her telling her story,as it happened BEFORE,and she was recounting her experience to us NOW.

Moving on, I love lots of things about this book: I love how Mac's character evolved from a "simple girl living a simple life with PINK flag flying colors" (hehe) to a "badass independent chick". She was really brave to take on the challenge though it was not in her character to "solve world problems". I love how Mac and Jericho call each other "Barrons" and "Ms. Lane" and I like how they talk to each other. It's really different from other books I've read. They really are repulsed from each other, and it's not the cheesy "I hate you" thing. Heck, I love it that they don't like each other from the very beginning. The story is not "I hate you though I love you". They simply really hate and are not attracted to each other. That's what makes it different from other "hate turned to love" stories. In the end, I expected them to like each other, BUT no, haha, they still hated each other, BUT BEGAN to trust each other. I love how SLOW they come to terms with each other. AND I love how the STORY progressed. The mystery was not yet all SOLVED, bUT it was SOLVED enough for the story to be able to go on to the next level (Next book). and I can't wait. :)

UNWIND. NEAL SHUSTERMAN.

Unwind (Unwind, #1)Unwind by Neal Shusterman

Summary:
Connor, Risa, and Lev are running for their lives.

The Second Civil War was fought over reproductive rights. The chilling resolution: Life is inviolable from the moment of conception until age thirteen. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, however, parents can have their child "unwound," whereby all of the child's organs are transplanted into different donors, so life doesn't technically end. Connor is too difficult for his parents to control. Risa, a ward of the state is not enough to be kept alive. And Lev is a tithe, a child conceived and raised to be unwound. Together, they may have a chance to escape and to survive.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

**OKAY. I'M LITERALLY SO SOOO PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED A TAB AND BOOM! THE REVIEW I JUST MADE WAS BAM! GONE! HUHU. I'M JUST GONNA START A NEW AND SHORT ONE. (The review I made was so formally written! now, i'm just gonna stick to my usual exploded, scattered review)** Pardon me.:)

This book seriously bombed my already insane brain. Once you read the "bill of life" and "storking initiative" laws as the solution to the "heartland war", you'll get my point. The name "heartland war" in itself sounds so ridiculous, who would name a war with such a soft-sounding name? (not like the "cold war" and "world war 1 and 2"). The "unwinding" thing is the most OUTRAGEOUSLY ABOMINABLE AND SADISTIC IDEA I've ever read in my entire reading career! It's eeky and yucky combined. (see, it involves your body being surgically chopped and ALL, I mean 99.4% of UR body transplanted to others..seriously PEOPLE!)
We follow the lives of 3 main characters here: Risa, Connor and Lev. They are from totally different statuses in life, but brought together by their same fate: being "Unwound". Their lives practically and dramatically changes because of all the situations and experiences they had. Comparing their characters from the start to end: you can really see the differences. I actually like all of them from the beginning. Despite having also ridiculous attitudes and beliefs, but I understood them and yeah that. Risa is a very strong independent girl. Connor is badass. Lev is well, he's on the soft innocent side at first and reality sucks in then he changes. Truly, learning the TRUTH-stupidness of their LAW and wrongness of it all makes all of the UNWINDS have same goal.
The Admiral Duffin is a really interesting character. We see a changed man in him. I actually admire him. He's the real man. Trying to make up for the TWO big mistakes he made in his life. His "BIG idea" was really great. The pastor was also kinda awesome by standing up for his conscience. The way the Unwinds also meet and share each their stories(--different characters, different set-ups) and how they fought for freedom made me teary (pang Maalaala mo kaya ang level, haha)=super heavy drama. Their young lives plagued by injustices!!!
I Admit, I was really SHOCKED AND PIFFED at the HORRIBLE idea where this book revolved in, HOWEVER, I also admit that it was a pretty good story, funny lines, humorous characters. REALLY good ending too. I love it!

LAST SACRIFICE. RICHELLE MEAD.

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6)Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SUMMARY:
Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules.
She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir Princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardian to come.
Now the law has finally caught up with Rose- for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.
But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?

WHAT I THINK:
despite my heart brokenness I'm still going to give this book a 5-star rating.
The start of "last sacrifice" picked up where Spirit bound left the story. I like this last installment of the series though. it was total ACTION-worthy and LOVEful and POLITICALLY intriguing and FRIENDSHIP starters and breakers. Lots of MYSTERIES. Though, I have to say Vampire Academy series was not what I expected it to be. IT'S not AT ALL DARK. When you've read the title, you're placed to think that everything about it is dark and evil, but NO. IT actually tackles lots of issues ongoing with our society today: there's politics, discrimination, treason, lots of politics, romance relationships., break ups, "bull**** break up lines", lots of intriguing issues: mistresses, political agendas, secrets, more secrets. gosh! this book has everything. haha.
The action heightens with every added page. The passion of love is inevitable between Rose & Dimitri..yes, even though I want Adrian to be with Rose, but I can't deny what Dimitri and she has. Adrian will find his equal someday..he still has to grow. Secrets. lots of secrets were revealed. Evil does pay in the end. Good things still happen in the end. Rose has had quite a not really quiet journey. "what a journey!". I have to say though, with the killing issue, though the criminal case there was well played, and the escapes(yes with lots of S) were pretty cool, but I just don't get it just WHY didn't the COURT have HIDDEN CAMERAS???? TARASOV has it, but WHY NOT THE PALACE? GOSH. if there was, it would be easier! the tape should have been just destroyed or something..
Anyway,God, i'm gonna miss Rose. Her Rose-logic, her sarcasm. gonna miss Adrian most of all (he's in bloodlines so I guess that's something, haha). This series taught me that even when you started reckless and bitchy, (that is Rose, with her Rose-logic) but when circumstances and situations BREAK YOU, they also MAKE YOU. gosh! i think I'm adapting too much on Dimitri's zen and life lessons. Well, anyway, I love how the situation went through.
the end: Rose and Dimitri together. Tasha the real murderer. Jill is the long lost sister of Lissa. Lissa and Christian going strong. Lissa's queen. everything's well. BUT POOR baby ADrian! I personally think he has yet to have his own life-changing experience, and it just began with his first challenge: getting over a bruised and broken Heart.
So with all this, I give a 5 star. (i really wanted to rant about Adrian's bitter ending, but hey! for the sake of all the good things..:) enjoyed, truly loved this series. one that will have stamp in my heart and brain. haha.
